  5. Ron,
I got a few Questions about my 1967 Magnavox Purple Astro Sonic Ambassador Console I bought 2 year's agone!! There were (3) Tan Color Plastic Cake'southward right under each of the Phillip'due south head mounting Screw's!! Each plastic Cake is app 2" Long by i one/four" Wide by app ane" Thick!! Should those cake'due south stay
At all time's on the Bottom side of the Turntable? The Model I accept is W620-00-01!! I am 100% Positive the Turntable was never ever used!! I took the sometime Greese out & put new Greese in information technology!! I replaced both Rubber Wheel's & I put a new Stylus in!! Just here is the Trouble!! I had to put this Rubber seal you put around door's under the Turntable or it would non first at the beginning of the Record information technology would mess effectually 4 Spin's & so Commencement playing!! Could it too be because it was not used at all for over 50 Yr'south? The previous owner simply used the Radio Only? The Factory Reel to Reel was besides never ever used ever!! This was Magnavox's top of the line model & it had to be shipped from California to the Midwest!! I got the Sechmatic only can't figure it out!! This was no cheapie at all in 1967!!

    Ron

  6. 1969, Cost Cut. 150 watts. PMPO (Peak Music Power Output) which equates in full range RMS and under 1% distortion at about 28 watts/channel. Plus you take the cost cut post 1966 Micromatic, the slim head, and the cartridge which is hard to discover a substitute for. In the Astro-Sonic era, your console is top end. But it will never be the best Magnavox ever built, those are Concert Grand, tube powered, and $1200 1960 dollars bought the cheapest of this line, they were built until the end of 1966, they were likewise bi-amplified, had over 30 real watts RMS (xx-twenty,000 with nether 1% distortion) and had the best Micromatic changers built. Discontinued as they sold slowly postal service 1962, their pinnacle sales year. Every bit more affluent customers went to Ampex, Fisher, HH Scott, or custom furniture installations with middle to high stop separate components, and the average packaged console buyer dropped to under $400 middle of the line consoles without Goggle box sets packaged in. Last bastions of high end packaged consoles were older owners past 40 years of age, rural owners many miles away from HiFi dealers, and also a few buyers of discounted leftovers. And the lesser educated or culturally aware. Simply some history.
  7. I wish I could figure out how to ship pictures with my I-Phone I took close to 100 of them!! Now getting dorsum to my 1967 Magnavox Imperial Astro Sonic!! I added a ane/4" Headphone Jack to my Panel I took the Jack off of a Bad Magnavox Reel to Reel!! I mounted it on the Back Carboard Pannel using Magnavox Plug In's so when the back has to come off you don't have to cut Wire's!! I also scored 5 different model's of Magnavox Headphone's all New in Manufactory Box's (one) of them was made in FT.Wayne & I found (half dozen) unlike Model's of Magnavox Microphone'south all New in Mill Box's also!! The strangest thing on this Console is the Speaker's I have never in my life seen such Big Magnet'southward on Woofer's & Heavy!! Magnavox call'due south the Speaker ready the Tunnel System!! I exercise have extra Cartridge's for my Turntable!! Mine is the Silverish & Tan Colored one!! To pull the Power Amplifier is a 3 Hour task all the Screw's, Wiring Harness & with this fix it's even harder with the extra Remote Control Chassis!! This One is all Solid Wood no Partical Lath's on this One!! This one cost $ane,400.00 New in 1967 that was a lot of Money then!! I've never seen ane just virtually vii Pes Long!!!
  8. I just bought a Magnavox fd3030 CD Thespian congenital in Belgin in 1984 information technology is a Top Loading Player & has Oestrus Sink'south in the Rear & it is the second Generation & it is generally Metal non Plastic similar the New One's!! The Weight is nigh 20 Pound'south!! I demand the Owner'southward Or User's Manual & Service Manual!! I can't seem to discover them on the Net any place!!
So where can I locate these Manual's? I wired up my Magnavox Console with the Mill RCA Jack Pannel & Put an Extra Magnavox Manufactory 110 Volt Plug In!!
  9. Yes, that top-loading Philips/Magnavox CD player is built like a tank. In that location are two long screws that go into the lesser panel to secure the CD ship when the unit of measurement is beingness shipped. Apparently if the player is moved around without those screws in identify, information technology tin exist damaged. You'll want to check and make sure the screws are removed earlier yous utilize the role player.
  10. I simply bought a 1967 Magnavox Majestic Astro Sonic (Agean-Series) Abode Theater in Solid Pecan Wood!! The AM/FM Stereo & Collaro four-Speed Turntable with Phantom Remote Control!! The Woods don't have a scratch on it!! Everything Work'southward except for the (25"-Color-Telly) the Panel hasn't been plugged in for Year's!! The End of the Picture Tube lights up on the Back!! I desire to keep it all Original!! So where practice I start to get the TV up & running once again? This was Magnavox's Peak in 1967!! So does anyone know where to first with the TV? The Whole Stereo wasn't used much there was NO wear anywhere even the Top Plastic Faceplate has NO Clothing!! This Console came from a Non Smoking Home!! The panel fifty-fifty has 2 Wooden Forepart Slidding Door's to hibernate the Picture Screen!! The Dorsum has never been off ever!! The Person has all the Transmission's & Paperwork from the Factory!!
It has (15"-Woofer's) merely I have a Pair of those (fifteen"Super-Woofer's) that CTS Fabricated with the (6"-Foursquare Magnet's) would it injure to switch out the Woofer's to the CTS I'due south?
Could at that place be simply a bad capacitor causing the Tv set not to Work?
  11. Ron,
I got my 1967 Magnavox three in One all to Work at present except for the Idiot box at that place is NO Loftier Voltage all the Tube's light Upwardly including the Dorsum End of Picture Tube!!
This Panel was well taken care of the Owner had all the Transmission's & Original Recipt's when information technology was Special Ordered from a Dealer!!
This was Magnavox's Height of Line Model!!
Where do I start on the TV?
  12. Become some heavy, and I mean heavy, rubber gloves or rubber over cotton wool, etc for starters. So stay clear of anything on the board or back of the picture tube, and never touch the chassis at the same time that you affect anything else, even with tools, gloves, etc. Information technology's non uncommon to see well-nigh 1000 volts there. Some guys tin fix Tv's, some guys can gear up other guys, and some guys are not so lucky.

Look at the schematic and identify where the HV comes from and it'south path to the picture tube. There is likely a fuse and a capacitor in that path that volition need to be replaced. Exam the rectifiers or rectifier tubes associated with the TV circuit.

  13. JBStephens

JBStephens I don't "similar", "share", "tweet", or Care. In Memoriam

I think y'all demand to use more exclamation points!! A lowly period is no way to end a judgement!! I got a Magnavox console in the lxx's for my mom!! It sounded pretty good with xv" woofers and horn tweeters!!
  14. I purchased a Magnavox stereo almost identical to the unit you take. It doesn't have the tape but it does have the remote command. The chiffonier is mahogany and in excellent condition. Looks like information technology was built in 1968. My problem is it needs capacitors. Whatsoever assistance in finding them would be greatly appreciated. The radio and turntable played but had a loud hum. The turntable operated perfect. Again, any help would be appreciated.
  15. Is this forum all the same operating. Would exist nice if a moderator would reply so I know this board is even so active. Thanks
  16. Y'all need to get in touch with a local technician, taking them the component chassis and have them make the repairs. They can make up one's mind what is all-time and get them. It's pretty involved in finding them every bit at that place are many types possible and the tech will need to see your actual unit to see what will piece of work best in it. There are more 1 approach and each tech volition accept their angle to get it back in order. their input may alter the parts required to accomplish that. It probably needs some other service as well while it's at that place and they will get over that equally well. You'll only pay a bit more for the labor (you accept to purchase the parts anyhow), and yous'll be getting way more experience and skill in soldering than you can proceeds in years of practise so information technology's a good value in the long run.

  17. Thank you for the info. Glad this forum is alive. I contacted a repairman in my area and he came to my house the last week in October. He was highly recommended. He said he'd worked on these units and had been in the business for 50 years. He knew what he was doing and I didn't have a clue. He removed 1 capacitor and said he would take it and so he could lucifer it. Oasis't seen him since. Efforts to get in touch have been fruitless. Not sure what'due south upwardly. Maybe he's sick or what. I have contacted repair shops in my area. I live near Augusta, GA and nosotros don't have a lot of repair shops. The cap that was pulled is 2000 mfd and fifty volt. I accept searched just had no luck in finding them. I appreciate you replying . Would also appreciate any assist in finding this item cap. Thanks again and have a great holiday.
  18. Thanks so much for this info. Hope this is what I demand merely I exercise have one question and capeesh any more than info that you tin give. The old cap had at least 5 pins, 2 of which looked like the positive and negative. The one you showed only has 2 wires. Do you take whatever idea if this will brand a difference? I don't know what the others were. Everything in this unit of measurement is soldered including the extra pins. Thanks
  19. very ornate - 1 in solid pecan would be something else

I accept this Motorola - Danish Mod blazon design

I like it, and got it from my parents. Information technology'due south only a verner tho.

  20. That's not what you asked for when y'all said "The cap that was pulled is 2000 mfd and 50 volt."

The multi-section cap will take different specs for each section. Y'all'll also take a rats nest of loose ends at that place to sort out at this point. Did you not pay the guy for coming over and checking your amp or something? Odd that he wouldn't remember if he idea that you were going to pay him. Even if the unit of measurement were intact, I can tell from your questions and descriptions that yous'll non be able to repair this yourself (no offense). Besides, at this point with the parts missing, it will exist a challenge for all merely the all-time radio / amp repair techs. Observe ane or haul it to the curb. It won't be worth the frustration or cost IME.

  21. The repairman that came to my house was paid cash. I also realize that I won't repair this unit myself. I'yard asking questions so I can gather info as to what may be needed to get the unit upwards and running. Equally far every bit the cap, the numbers I saw on the one that was removed were as I stated and this is what the repairman stated also. At that place is some other cap identical to the i that was removed. I will try to run across the other numbers on it. Maybe this will help. Can you requite me more info on the multi section cap? Ane affair though. If I don't become it working it volition stay in my dwelling because it'due south a cute piece of furniture.
  22. A annotation: The Magnavox Regal were the last high end Magnavox consoles fabricated, and ameliorate sounding than fifty-fifty the usual Astro-Sonics were (themselves among the last practiced consoles made to the older standards, before cost cutting took over). Your console is worth love, proper restoration, and deserves to be the centerpiece of your dwelling. Owning one is a sign of adept gustatory modality. A multi-section electrolytic capacitor in a can, has 2 or more than capacitance values. Some of these capacitors are getting harder to find and more expensive. Only workarounds using more than one capacitor can exist done. Apologies for my earlier post. I'd preserve this console, and restore information technology properly. Equally it's the concluding series of loftier end Magnavox consoles. I am also biased, these consoles were congenital in plants almost my dwelling in Eastward Tennessee, in Greenville and in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Best wishes on this endeavor
